《猫》是作曲家洛依德·韦伯创作的最成功的一部音乐剧。自1981年5月11日首演于新伦敦剧院和1982年10月5日首演于纽约百老汇冬园剧院后便一直在这两处演出，直至去年5月正式停下来，前后持续了整整20年，其中还没有包括在世界30多个国家和地区的多次巡演。
　　《猫》是历史上最成功的音乐剧。其中最著名的主题曲便是《回忆》。该曲的原唱者忆莲·佩姬。今天这首乐曲仍是如此有名，你在上海的许多地方，如酒店大堂、机场候机厅、写字楼电梯、电视广告，甚至是手机铃声中都能听到这段动人的旋律。不过，那么多熟悉这一曲调的人中，恐怕绝大多数人都没有看过《猫》，更不知道这首曲子原来是出自于这部音乐剧。
